In St. Lucia, Australia won the toss and chose to bowl. Indian captain Rohit Sharma played a brilliant innings, scoring 92 runs off 41 balls with the help of 7 fours and 8 sixes, at a strike rate of 224.

At one point, his strike rate indeed reached 300. Rohit missed out on scoring the fastest century in T20 World Cup history but registered the fastest half- century. piecemeal from Rohit, Suryakumar( 31), Shivam Dube( 28), and Hardik Pandya( 27) contributed as India reached a aggregate of 205 runs.
