India Today reported that the Modi government will introduce the Digital India Bill. It will regulate deepfake videos and content made by artificial intelligence (AI). According to sources, the bill will bandy better uses and styles of AI technology. The government will also seek support from opposition parties for this bill.
The 18th Lok Sabha’s first session starts on June 26. It will witness the swearing-in of new MPs and the President’s address. During this session, the government will present the full budget. They may also have long debates on the Digital India Bill alongside the budget. The bill may include rules for videos on social media.
During the choices, a deepfake of Amit Shah went viral on April 27. Shah held a press conference in Guwahati, Assam. He explained the differences between the fake and real videos. To check deepfakes, the government had formulated new rules in January. According to these rules, India could ban any social media platform that breaks them. What is deepfake and how is it created?
The term “deepfake” was first used in 2017. At that time, on Reddit, an American social news site, users posted several celebrity videos. They used deepfake IDs. They included many porn vids. The vids featured actresses Emma Watson, Gal Gadot, and Scarlett Johansson.
Deepfake refers to putting someone else’s face, voice, and expressions onto real videos, prints, or audio. It’s executed with remarkable authenticity. It looks real. It even fools observers. Digital India Bill : Modi said, “Deepfake is dangerous for the digital age. One video showed me singing garba songs. Many creators will make similar videos.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described deepfake technology as dangerous. On November 17, he said that I appeared in one videotape singing garba songs. There are many similar videos online. Modi also said that deepfake poses a trouble to the digital age.

Last time, IT Minister Rajiv Chandrasekhar also said that the government will pass a bill. The bill will regulate fake videos and social media videos. He mentioned this at the Financial Express’ DigiFund and Safety Summit. He said that we need broad discussion and debate on this bill. It may take time. Introducing it in Parliament before the choices appears doubtful.

Social media platforms will ask users to pledge not to upload deepfake content. Platforms will warn their users about this matter. Users can pierce their accounts only after concurrence. You must remove deepfake content within 24 hours. One platform tells another about the account’s check. The indicted can’t open an account there.
